The lifespan of those who are infected has increased by decades due to new medications, shifting HIV from an acute deadly sickness to a chronic condition requiring care and monitoring. As healthcare practitioners, we must stay up to date on new information about HIV, its effects, transmission, treatment, and the best care for HIV victims who proceed to the last stage of AIDS in order to help individuals affected live healthier, more fulfilling lives.
